Use curriculum, assessment and reporting knowledge to design learning sequences and lesson plans.
Successful constructivist teaching, requiring new understandings to be built on those understandings that students already possess, requires learning to be structured in a logical sequence. This is important both in terms of the structure of individual lessons as well as the way in which one lesson flows on to the next. Being able to adapt the curriculum in a way that allows this to happen is a vital teaching skill.
This lesson plan for a Year 11 Biology Ecosystems unit outlines my general approach to unit planning. Each lesson is briefly outlined and hyperlinks in the text link to all of the required resources, which are stored in a linked folder. This way I can instantly access all of my resources e.g. PowerPoint presentations, youtube clips, worksheets, etc.
