Bioaccumulation of heavy metals - Presentation
Your task for this week is to work in groups of four to research the issue of "Bioaccumulation of heavy metals" and report your findings to the class in an oral presentation. Your presentation should include the following sub-topics:
· What is bioaccumulation?
· Sources of heavy metals in the environment
· Negative impacts of bioaccumulation of heavy metals
· Solutions
You are to work in groups of four to complete your report. Within your group you should negotiate for each member to focus on one of the four key sub-topics above. Each person needs to keep hand-written notes of their research and planning as these will be assessed in order to gauge each member's contribution to the overall presentation. You will each also be graded on the quality of your section of the presentation.
When you make your slides they should be mostly made up of useful diagrams, statistics, and DISTILLED key points of information. These are intended as prompts and visual aids only. Reading directly from slides will be viewed very unfavourably so keep text on slides to a minimum.
Suggested timeline:
Lesson 1: Assignment of groups, negotiation of roles, initial research
Lesson 2: Research (remember to keep detailed, hand-written notes)
Lesson 3: Finalise research, organisation of information, collaboration and creation of slide show
Lesson 4: Finalise slide show (ensuring all necessary information is included, sequence is logical, and that formatting is consistent throughout presentation), practice presentation
Weekly homework: It will be at your group's discretion what elements of the task will be completed during your allocated homework time but it will be expected that you use all allocated time optimally.
All groups will present during week 7.
