Many seeds need fire to germinate. It could be the smoke, heat or the chemicals in ash that cause the seeds to germinate.

- Acacia seeds

- Bucket of water
- Seedling mix
- Seedling trays
- Boiling water

- Collect unopened banksia seed pods from trees in your local area. Write down your observations of the unopened seed pods.
- Wrap the seed pods in newspaper and burn them in a safe area. Write down your observations of the seed pod after burning.
