Witchetty River Case Study- Introduction
Generations after the First 100 first began preparing Mars for human habitation, several regions on the Martian surface now support burgeoning, self-sustaining communities. These communities consist mainly of the descendents of the First 100, as well as a proportion of more recent refugees from the increasingly inhospitable planet Earth.
Horticulture, agriculture and industry are all flourishing. However, the Martian landscape is relatively unproductive due to relatively low concentrations of trace elements in the soil and does not produce enough food to support the ever expanding colonies. As such, the colonists rely heavily upon the bounty of the sea - especially the perch that are plentiful in the Witchetty River and inshore areas close to the city of Dillon. The food security of the people of the city of Dillon and surrounding areas is now facing a severe threat with large numbers of fish dying due to unknown causes. The people need your help.
