3.6 Evaluate and improve teaching programs
Demonstrate broad knowledge of strategies that can be used to evaluate teaching programs to improve student learning.
In my so far limited teaching experience I have found that seeking the opinions of my colleagues, mentor teachers and students as being the most effective strategies to evaluate the teaching programs I have delivered.
With my Year 11 Biology class I gave each of the students a sticky note and asked that they write 3 things that they liked about my teaching and 3 things that they thought that I could improve. The feedback I got was both encouraging and a useful tool to evaluate my teaching. I think this was a useful tool for improving student learning.
“Peter sought feedback from the year 11 students in terms of his teaching and management of the class. Students were respectful and constructive in their comments, many commenting on similar feedback that had already been given to him. He has been receptive to advice given and acted to improve his classroom practice.”
